Terms of Service

Operational standards, software licensing rules, and fair-use guidelines governing WindowsUtils tools and web platforms.

Terms of service and software utilization agreement for WindowsUtils.

Welcome to WindowsUtils. We develop high-performance desktop utilities designed to help IT administrators, enterprises, and individual users manage, convert, and recover complex file formats — including Microsoft Outlook PST/OST archives, MBOX mailboxes, Gmail backups, and local storage partitions.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) establish the operational parameters and legal framework for using our website (windowsutils.com), purchasing software licenses, and operating our native Windows executables. By installing our utilities or browsing our digital guides, you agree to these fair-use standards.

1Platform Access & Permitted Utility Use

Download our knowledge articles, free trial software, migration guides and software documentation. Use of any of these is subject to the following fair-use policy:

Legitimate Evaluation & Workflow Execution:

Feel free to download trial versions, go through conversion tutorials and check compatibility of all products for all projects of your personal and company data.

Prohibited Infrastructure Abuse:

You may not utilize automated bots, scrapers, or other traffic-generating techniques to adversely impact our documentation pages, nor must you try to access or reverse engineer download distribution points.

2Proprietary Software Architecture & Licensing Boundaries

All Windows Utils developed desktop applications are our sole property of intellectual rights:

  • License Model: Software purchased from Windows Utils grants you a non-exclusive license to use the software. You are not purchasing source code or algorithms.
  • Protection of Binary Code: You will not decompile, disassemble, alter, create derivative works of, or reverse engineer our binaries, dynamic link libraries or parsing engines.
  • Third-Party Platforms:References to third-party platforms (such as Microsoft Outlook and Exchange Server, Google Workspace, Apple Mail, and so on) are only provided to describe file format compatibility and do not constitute an official partnership.

3The “Try-Before-You-Buy” Development Criterion

Different machines store data in very different formats and with very different hardware configurations. The email database may have partial header inconsistencies, structural corruptions, or proprietary encryption.

Required Demonstration Testing

Cut to the Chase: For each Windows Utils app there is a free demonstration build. The demo will automatically scan your storage media, construct full directory hierarchies, and provide sample views of retrievable files or mail objects.

We ask every user to test out the free demo on the actual files before buying a paid license to ensure this software performs to your expectations.

4Work Setting & Workstation Needs

Users must make sure that their host workstations have at least:

  • Supported Windows Releases: Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1/7, Windows Server (2022, 2019, 2016, 2012).
  • Adequate Destination Storage: When extracting a large mailbox database (for instance, your 50GB PST archive) your output drive should have sufficient amount of free space to enable you to get all the files extracted.
  • Appropriate Administrative Rights: Deep sector data recovery and raw disk investigation require higher than normal Windows administrator privileges to get raw physical drive handles.

5Warranty Disclaimers & Recovery Feasibility Limits

Our software algorithms are engineered to extract the maximum possible recoverable data from damaged containers. However, physical hardware decay and digital overwrite present unavoidable physical limits:

Limits on Permanently Overwritten Sectors

No software utility can reconstruct data sectors that have been zeroed out, securely wiped by cryptographic shredders, or physically overwritten by subsequent file write operations.

WindowsUtils provides its utilities on an “as is” basis and disclaims implied warranties regarding the recovery of storage blocks that are physically defective or mathematically unrecoverable.

6Customer Support, Maintenance & Refund Rights

Every licensed customer receives access to our technical support desk to assist with activation, installation, and operation. If a licensed tool encounters an internal software defect that our engineering team cannot resolve, your purchase is protected under our Refund Policy.
